Measurement Style:

Ingredients

– 28g unflavored whey (I used Quest)
– 15g all-purpose flour
– 1/2 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp garlic salt
– 1/2 tsp dried basil
– 1/2 tsp dried oregano
– 2g Parmesan cheese
– 21g low fat cheddar cheese
– 46g egg whites
– 60g marinara sauce

*Note: When baking with protein powder, we recommend staying away from pure isolate powder as that does not bake well (turns recipes to a cardboard texture). Whey/Casein blends usually work best for baking.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine whey, flour, seasonings, Parmesan, baking powder, and egg whites. Depending on the protein powder, you may have to add a little water to get a waffle batter consistency. Be careful that it isn’t too thick — you aren’t going for a dough consistency, but rather more of a cake batter consistency.
  2. Spray waffle maker with nonstick spray and cook waffle for about 2 minutes, until done.
  3. Spread marinara sauce, cheese, and any other toppings you’d like on top of waffle.
  4. Toast in a toaster oven or in your oven for a few minutes, until cheese is melted and enjoy the Pizza Waffle!
